 Presentation

Welcome to 2401 Dawlish School Squadron for the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. We are a Youth Organisation run by civilian and service Volunteers for youngsters ages from 12 to 16 years old.

The Air Training Corps was formed in 1941. Since its inception there have been many changes, but the aims of today are very much in line with those aims of earlier years:

The Aims of the Air Training Corps are:

  •       To promote and encourage among young people a practical interest in aviation and the Royal Air Force.
  •       To provide training which will be useful in the Services and civilian life.
  •       To foster the spirit of adventure and develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship

We develop a strong sense of service among our young cadets and today many of our cadets do move on to careers that support society and many other important roles. Many more develop careers in the public and private sectors, from politics, policing, teaching and nursing. Whilst we are still part of the Royal Air Force, our role is not to act as a recruiting service for the armed forces but to offer activities that many youngster would not normally get the chance to help them develop their teamwork, leadership and communication skills.
